 Culture and Change
Quality programs, re-engineering, or improvement initiatives alone are not enough to achieve desirable change. They must be integrated with an overall approach to changing an organization’s culture. Improvement initiatives are often unsuccessful because they are treated as a technique, tool or program of change, not as a fundamental shift in the organization’s direction, values, and culture. To have continuous improvement, means continuous change. If you change a process, software, or equipment but the people’s thinking and interactions remain the same, the benefit the company will gain from that initiative is limited. Organizational culture is essential for implementing lean practices, adapting to the turbulent environment and becoming a truly high performing company.
