Gaps between expected and actual performance – Root Causes
To address the performance gap, it is important to analyze the symptoms and determine the root cause.
To assess why the gap exists, ask yourself the following questions:
Ø Does the employee lack the skills required to perform the task?
Ø Does the employee lack the knowledge, information or direction required to perform the task?
Ø Does the employee lack the tools, resources or process support required to perform the task?
Ø Does the employee lack the desire or motivation to perform the task?
