NIST – National Institute Science and Technology, a division of the Department of Commerce.
If you’re not familiar with NIST, you should be. They are the part of the US Federal Government that house the Atomic Clock, create standards in many fields, but also in Software and specifically for Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence. Think of their standards as the seal of approval of NIST.
Last year I participated in a several-day workshop with NIST on the Risk Manage Framework as it pertains to AI for individuals, government and society in general.
On January 26, 2023, NIST released the AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0) along with a companion NIST RMF Playbook, AI RMF Explainer Video and an AI RMF Roadmap, AI RMF Crosswalk and various Perspectives.
