CIS Secure Receives Industry-First TSG Approval for Cisco 8865 Video VoIP Phone
First video phone ever approved with TSG security
DULLES, VA - CIS Secure Computing, Inc. (CIS) has announced an industry- first TSG type acceptance of a modified Cisco 8865 HD video-enabled VoIP phone (models DTD-8865-01/02). Approved
by the National Telecommunications Security Working Group (NTSWG), the CIS-modified Cisco 8865 phone is the world’s first video-enabled VoIP phone with TSG security.
“CIS has provided TSG phones to private sector customers in the financial industry, for example”
Defined by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS), the TSG type-acceptance program requires all telephones used in sensitive discussion areas to be physically incapable of producing any microphonic audio or intelligible video on any wires leaving the instrument while it is in an on-hook state. Any unmodified VoIP telephone can present eavesdropping vulnerabilities inherent in their architecture and Ethernet capabilities.
“Cybersecurity efforts are increasingly focused on insider threats,” said John Turner, Chief Technology Officer for CIS. “These phones reduce outside and inside threats and are required by policy for Government departments, agencies and contractors.”
Not restricted to government-only use, TSG-approved products are available
to commercial clients where protecting sensitive information, trade secrets and proprietary data is paramount. “CIS has provided TSG phones to private sector customers in the financial industry, for example,” Turner added. “Voice and video technologies are attractive targets for industrial espionage.”
The DTD-8865 approved versions of the Cisco 8865 also address the migration to converged infrastructures where voice and video meet in what industry deems Unified Communications. The CIS- approved products support 1GB data rates over standard copper Ethernet supporting higher-speed network access at the desktop.
“CIS has developed patent pending technology that allows our TSG-modified devices to pass the stringent TSG Class A requirements using standard copper Ethernet interfaces at the high-speed data rates users now expect,” Turner said.
CIS is the worldwide market leader
for TSG-approved VoIP instruments and devices, including conference phones and USB solutions for soft phone applications like Jabber and Skype. Located in Dulles, Virginia, CIS Secure Computing/ CIS Labs, Inc. is a leading provider of TEMPEST, TSG, and modified COTS solutions for the U.S. Government and other entities. CIS Secure Computing is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer and CIS Labs is an NSA Certified TEMPEST Manufacturer and Test facility.

performance issues before they can lead to application performance issues.”
As the first SD-WAN solution supported by Apcela’s Enhanced Analytics, the
Cisco SD-WAN/ELK API adds SD-WAN data to the platform, enabling significant reductions in time to diagnose and resolve network performance issues arising from fluid application requirements. While the Cisco SD-WAN deployments offer some log retention in the vManage portal, data visualization and analytical capabilities are limited due to static data sets. Apcela’s Enhanced Analytics Platform addresses these issues by integrating SD-WAN data with other network operational data and systems logs for correlation and analyses. ELK enables immediate support for third-party components including, but
not limited to, Amazon AWS, Cloudflare, Oracle, Palo Alto, vmWare, and zScaler. Because Apcela delivers core networking capabilities, it delivers performance improvements significantly faster than similar solutions disaggregated from network delivery.
“The top barriers to cloud analytics
and automation are insufficient data quality, integration of disparate tool sets, and the learning curve associated with advanced analytics required to resolve performance issues between networks and applications,” noted Jack Dziak, President and COO of Apcela. “Apcela’s Enhanced Analytics addresses these challenges in one easy-to-launch, single pane of glass, as-a-Service offering. Our Enhanced Analytics Platform provides the enterprise with the means to deliver improved applications performance in a highly-agile manner, providing deeper integration between networks, applications and
other systems elements traveling across networks. EAP accelerates the realization of hybrid IT benefits,” Dziak added.
Overall, Apcela Enhanced Analytics Platform and Cisco SD-WAN/ELK API enables customers to:
Collect Cisco SD-WAN and other network and application data into an indexed, query-able database;
Retain more than six months of operational data;
Conduct correlative analysis between Cisco SD-WAN operational data and other systems (e.g. Palo Alto and AppDynamics); and
Implement sophisticated monitoring and alerting capabilities.

Cisco Tetration Workload Protection Extended with new Options: SaaS and Virtual Appliance
New Tetration models deliver faster deployment and pay-as-you-grow flexibility. SAN JOSE, CA - Cisco has announced
two new consumption models for its
Cisco® Tetration solution for the data center and cloud: Tetration SaaS, the cloud-based solution for cloud-first and cloud-only organizations, and Tetration-V, a software- only version using a virtual appliance for smaller deployments. Both models deliver the same features and functionality as
the original on-premises form factors of Tetration. Tetration automates application dependency mapping and whitelist
policy generation and enforcement, gives insight into network performance, and offers cloud workload protection. The Tetration APIs enable IT organizations to create custom applications with access to Tetration data sources, allowing the export and enforcement of policies generated
by Tetration across SDN controllers and security devices.
With the new consumption models, organizations can adopt Tetration technology within hours, with no initial investment and the flexibility to pay as they grow. With Tetration SaaS, organizations gain the benefits of a fully managed model, including:
l Workload protection features without any on-premises hardware requirements
l Protection for on-premises, public, and private cloud workloads
l Scalability up to 25,000 workloads
l Data retention for months
l Faster onboarding to realize the benefits of the platform quickly
l Built-in high availability and disaster recovery capability
l Service backed by world-class SLAs
l Managed services provided by Cisco channel partners
For organizations that deploy fewer than 1000 workloads and prefer a software-only approach, Tetration is available on a virtual appliance. It offers one-click deployment and allows organizations to use their own server and storage infrastructure.
Both Tetration models deliver a ready- to-use solution to identify data center applications, their detailed dependencies, and the underlying policies between different application tiers. Operators
can implement a zero-trust model using whitelist policy and segmentation, monitor the behavior of server processes, and identify software-related vulnerabilities. Tetration is able to identify high-severity security events such as certain Spectre and Meltdown exploits using behavior-based anomalies, allowing proactive quarantining of affected servers. With this approach,
Tetration provides holistic cloud workload protection anywhere. For more information, see A Recipe to Keep Your Hybrid Cloud Workloads Safe. “Cisco Tetration helps Xentaurs manage successful cloud and data center deployments for our clients
by ensuring every single connection and flow to an application is visible,” said Anoj Willy, CEO, Xentaurs. “Without this critical information, app, cloud, and data center migrations would be impossible to precisely guarantee nothing is missed and everything is as it is intended. Tetration goes further
in establishing and enforcing a zero-trust environment that is the foundation for microsegmentation, down to containers and next-generation services development.”
Cisco’s architectural approach
to security
Tetration is also a core technology in Cisco’s data center security and workload protection portfolio. Tetration works with Cisco ACI and Cisco’s security portfolio, including Cisco Firepower® Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), Next-Generation IPS (NGIPS), Advanced Malware Protection (AMP), and Stealthwatch® to deliver effective security that follows the workload everywhere. Now operators can see everything across their network, reduce the attack surface, and stop data center breaches from moving laterally across workloads. For more information, see Redefining Security for the Modern Data Center in a Multi-Cloud World.
Cisco Services for Tetration
If requested, Cisco can also provide professional and support services for Tetration SaaS and Tetration-V, including: support for Tetration onboarding and use- case support to accelerate Tetration adoption and optimize policies and security, resulting in a faster time to value with Tetration.
