compelling. Additionally, in terms of preparing
for the future, 3CX has gone further by enabling
WebRTC.
WebRTC takes the notion of an appliance-less
PBX to its next logical step: the phoneless phone call.
Welcome to the age of clientless human to
human communication. Many end users may
not know what WebRTC is, but they are very
soon going to be experiencing WebRTC enabled
events. he ability to simply click to call, to connect
browser to browser has a bewildering number
of potential imagined and not yet imagined
applications. Early work is being done now on how
WebRTC can inally transform the call center into
the contact center. But as signiicant as the contact
center applications are, we should note the potential
to use WebRTC in ields as varied as health care to
gaming. here are whole industries, perhaps whole
occupations that will be transformed, or even newly
invented by these applications.
Here is where 3CX shines as a thoughtful choice.
By enabling WebRTC, 3CX is essentially bundling
a disruptive technology right into its solution. hat
means they are designing their platform with an
eye on a future landscape that may look radically
diferent than the one we see as we peer into
2015. But in as much that the future can never be
revealed before its time, we can plan for it by buying
products that can adapt with the ease of a simple
download, click and install.
Making the Choice
Today, vendors and their end user customers are
ofered three broad based PBX paths: proprietary
appliance premises based, cloud based or sotware
based. Each one has its strengths. Every customer
and vendor must ultimately look carefully at
what an enterprise’s actual circumstances are to
make their choice. How does the company and
its employees work and interact? How does the
company communicate with its customers? What
is the physical infrastructure like and what are the
environments the company operates in? We then
have to look at not just meeting today’s needs but
actually contributing to the company’s progress.
Can we improve worker productivity? Can we
save operational costs? Can we improve customer
experiences? Are we ready for what’s coming next?
On all these considerations, 3CX’s approach
scores very well. As a Window’s application, 3CX
is leveraging a widely distributed and widely
understood OS. hat minimizes training and staf
learning curves. Meanwhile, using a Windows
OS also means a near limitless choice of servers
and other gear thus avoiding costly proprietary
equipment. Like cloud platforms, we also can see
savings from being able to use readily available
services such as SIP Trunking.
However, unlike cloud, we are avoiding escalating
recurring monthly expenses. And with WebRTC
enablement, we have a pathway to many future
applications.
By keeping it simple and saving customers
money, 3CX should be on the “investigate this
more” list of anyone looking to make a change to
UC environment in 2015.
