was so nice. The nurses, volunteers and the other patients were always so supportive. I was scared thick the rst time
I was going because I thought of a cancer clinic being lled of pain and sorrow, but it was actually the opposite. The support system was HUGE! I guess apart from the actual treatment that cured my mother, the most important thing was the support system and programs that the hospital and community had in place.
We have awareness to thank for that. Why? Because awareness brings funding and funding allows for research and research allows for cures and necessary medical equipment to be brought into smaller communities like Barrie, Ontario. The fact that I am now a grown women (according to most people you ask), working in the promotional products industry where I can help create promotional products that will bring awareness to breast cancer research, funding and support systems makes me proud to be able to help others just like me and my mom. I like to think of this as another cancer success for the Dobosh’s. My mother is now over 10 years cancer free. She is a ghter and one of the strongest Women I know. I only hope that I will grow up to be as strong as her.
 Breast Cancer
In Canada, the 5-year survival rate for breast cancer is 87%.
Breast cancer mortality rates have decreased by 44% since the peak in 1987.
Thanks to funding to support all types of cancer research and technologies, today over 60% of Canadians diagnosed with cancer will survive compared with about 25% in the 1940s.
1 in 9 Canadian women will develop breast cancer in their life time.
1 in 4 cancers diagnosed in Canadian women are breast cancer.
