SILAS
...I don’t want you to shoot me either so I’m popping a squat
right next to him.
(SILAS sits next to GRANT. LEVI turns his head towards the audience talking to BASS)
LEVI
My friend. I’m assuming you have a gun pointed at my brother.
BASS
That assumption would be correct.
GRANT
I’m U.S. Deputy Marshal Grant Johnson. I'm going to reach
inside my jacket to take out a piece of paper to read to you. LEVI
Nice and easy.
(GRANT who’s in pain. Slowly reaches inside his COAT pocket to retrieve the WARRANT. He pulls it out. Reads)
GRANT
A governors warrant has been issued by the great state of
Missouri for the killing or capture... of Gus Colton.
(LEVI becomes very uncomfortable as GUS stares)
GRANT
He is being sought for murder. Colton drew his pistol and
fatally killed an innocent man. A reward of five - thousand - dollars will be paid for the capture, dead or alive for this killer. Present Colton or his corpse to any Missouri county sheriff to collect this reward. Signed Judge Isaac C. Parker - Federal Western District Court.
(He places the WARRANT back in his COAT pocket. LEVI is dumbfound. LIGHTNING)
BASS
