That day... (sadden) my Katie... my Katie was beaten and
raped and left for dead in a ditch. Covered in shit. She all I had! All I ever wanted. Felt alone - Ain’t got nobody and he just a rubbing it, rubbing it, rubbing it in my face ... that picture - so I hit him hard. Real hard. Split his head open. Took the picture out his pocket to tear up - then pushed him down a hill. Left him there. Not knowing if he dead or alive. Got back in town - heard that a man named Levi was asking everybody had they seen or know anyone named Gus Colton. No one knew where he was... except me. I ran back to that hill to tell him I was sorry for what I had done to him - but he was gone. As you was leaving town - I wanted to give you that picture back- so you can have your peace - So I can have my mine as well- for Katie. I rode my horse up to you - extended it - you saw that picture and gave me a big hug. Wouldn't let me go. Thought I was Gus. It felt good to be hugged. And from that day on... that’s who I was. No questions - you took me in. Showed me things I had never seen before. I start to believing I was Gus. I enjoyed it. Finally free. At peace. And then the woman on the train.... Die - Blood - everything OUT OF CONTROL - and you say you gotta hide me in Mexico after it happen - I cant die - accident - I AIN’T SEEING NO HANGING JUDGE BASS REEVES! I'M GETTING TO MEXICO!
