“Well,” agreed Brittany, “that would be great, though I’m not sure how you’d handle a couple of pigs and their piglets there in the hotel.”
“Dad said we’ll figure something out,” MaryCath- erine said. “Oh, and speaking of animals, how’s Buddy doing these days? Did the vet have any ideas for dealing with his limp?”
Brittany sighed. “No, not really. He just reminded us that as dogs get older, they get aches and pains. I try to give him some extra TLC, to make up for your being gone. I think he actually misses you.”
“Not likely,” MaryCatherine laughed. “You’ll just have to do double duty. Ahh, look at the time! Gotta go now. Give Mom my love. I’ll see you on Sunday, when the four of us meet.”
As they said their goodbyes, MaryCatherine be- came aware of the sounds of traffic on the street be- low as they drifted through the open bedroom win- dow. MaryCatherine closed her laptop and placed it in a desk drawer, piled her school materials on top, and pulled down the bedclothes.
Dad would soon join her for evening devotions. One more day had ended quietly in this great ad- venture in the land at the top of the world.
