“I hope I get to spend time with Daya again and talk more about spiritual things. Interesting, isn’t it, that she and her mother have met a Nepalese family that attends church? The number of Christians in this country is so tiny.”
“It’s certainly something to pray about,” Brittany agreed. “And ... Tabby? Is he still with you?”
“Oh, yes,” MaryCatherine replied. “He’s not all that big, for a cat. But he has a big presence, and he certainly knows how to make his wishes known — especially when he’s hungry. He naps a lot on the window ledge. And one evening, he presented me with some leftovers from what was probably a little gecko. Sorry about that. They’re really helpful crea- tures keeping the fly population in check.”
“I told Mom we should get a puppy, but she says we need to wait awhile. Probably till you and Dad get back from Nepal,” Brittany confided.
“I agree. I’m hoping to see Daya again in a couple of weeks. She plans to go with us when we tour the Monkey Temple,” MaryCatherine said. “And I have a major report to finish for geography before then. Time to go. Give Mom a hug for me.”
With that, MaryCatherine shut down the connec- tion, closed her laptop and started getting ready for bed. Tabby was prowling a bit, as cats like to do at night, but she knew he’d curl up at the foot of her bed once she was asleep.
