2025 PRESIDENT
WHAT A GREAT WEEK AT THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS SHOW
The leadership team just returned from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Convention in Las Vegas. We attended numerous leadership meetings, and in the President Council’s meeting, we reviewed NAHB’s Mission, and their Long-Range Strategic Plan adopted in 2024.
I was impressed by the direction that the NAHB’s Sr. Officers and Leadership Council has taken. NAHB’s advocacy and government affairs efforts make a true difference in each of our businesses. When you join the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, you also become a member of the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) and NAHB. GSABA sends a portion of your dues to the state and local associations to support their government affairs, regulatory and advocacy issues and the benefits we receive are vitally important to each of us.
With the new administration, tax reform and immigration reform are critical to not only our businesses but to the entire country. I wanted to share NAHB’s mission and core values with you.
NAHB MISSION

GSABA’s mission and values very much align with NAHB’s mission and values. The GSABA leadership team and staff work diligently to

not only promote homeownership but to provide an advocacy program that helps us share the challenges facing the residential building, development and remodeling industries. The proposed tariffs by the Trump administration could have unintended consequences to the housing industry and the tax reform initiatives are not only complicated but critically important to us all.
Housing affordability is not only a local issue but a state and national issue as well. We also attended the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) Rally Day in Austin on February 11th. We had over 50 members from GSABA travel by bus (in the rain!) and we met with fourteen (14) of our State Senate and House members to talk about housing. It was a great day, and I want to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to help us share the complicated issues facing our industry. GSABA was also recognized for its efforts and contribution to our HomePac, and thanks to Ed Berlanga’s great efforts we exceeded our goal by 150 percent.
We invite you to get involved in our advocacy efforts. It is vitally important for us to share the challenges facing the residential housing industry and our businesses. Please reach out to me or Kristi to find out how you can get involved and make a difference. Thank you for being a member and I hope to see you at an upcoming GSABA event.
Sincerely,
Jeff Kuwamura
