The Greater San Antonio Building Association is pleased to spotlight a long-time friend of the Association, Dominick Alongi from Massey Services, Inc. Dominick has been a tremendous support to GSABA and the building community with his innovative pest defense strategies for more than 25 years.
Growing up in Southern California, Alongi relocated to Texas after graduating from high school and started his career filling orders at Huntington Pacific Tile. After a promotion within the company to an outside sales representative, Alongi discovered that the social interaction with clients was where he excelled and found he had a self-professed "gift for gab." Alongi continued his sales career, working for a while in car sales before joining his father in the pest control business.
A pioneer in the business, Alongi's father Don Alongi, was one of the first to purchase a franchise of an in-wall pest control tubing system in the Rio Grande Valley. Training with his father in the Valley, Dominick traveled to and from San Antonio, expanding his sales reach and promoting the services to new home builders in the community. Dominick went on to start his own pest control business called Pest Shield and soon became builders' number one choice for pest defense.
Alongi sold Pest Shield Pest Control, Inc. to Massey Services, Inc.
and is still a senior team member, positioning the company as a leader in the field. Alongi works for Massey in Texas and Oklahoma. His role is to implement new products and services to home builders, architects, commercial construction and multi-family projects.
Working alongside the network of builders he has known for 25+ years, Alongi has positioned Massey Services, Inc. into the number
one spot for pest services. With
the innovative Boracare termite treatment and Pest Prevention Plus (PPP), Massey Services, Inc., under Alongi's lead, has implemented these services in more than 6,000 new homes in Texas. Massey Services is now one of the top
new home construction termite companies in Texas, servicing more than 15,000 homes.
Alongi's relationship with the San Antonio building community can be directly linked to his involvement with GSABA. Alongi first became associated with GSABA in 1995. Attending the occasional function, Alongi was able to get in front of new builders more often through this new membership. One builder, in particular, took an interest in Alongi's new in-wall pest system. Mike Hollaway was the first builder to implement the system into every home as a standard feature.
This wonderful connection made through the GSABA network led Hollaway to urge Alongi to become more involved in the Association.
