P. 7

Over the past two years, NAHB has also met with the White House to discuss our concerns regarding the building code language and we are pleased to see that the current administration shares our concerns as well. NAHB was successful in getting the White House Statement of Administration to oppose H.R. 4447.
We will continue to keep you apprised of the adoption and implementation of the 2021 building codes and the impact on new home construction. We have all felt the pain of the sharp increase in lumber prices as they have put pressure on homeowners and Builders. Appraisals are compounding the issue due to the sharp lumber price increased that exceed current values. The best solution is to remove the tariffs on Canadian lumber.
As industry professionals, we need to come together to fight for housing affordability. Rising lumber prices, limited availability of key materials such as appliances, windows, and flooring, along with ever increasing land and labor costs continue to push the American Dream of homeownership out of reach for many Americans. We cannot sit idly by and let that happen. Please get involved. Your expertise and your voice matters and goes a long way to help our industry serve the people San Antonio and the surrounding area. Please call me if I can be of assistance to you in any way.
Sincerely,
