THE VISION
The Prominence
Our vision for this home is two-fold. First, it is to
take advantage of the naturally elevated terrain by incorporating that into our foundation; allowing us to build in a 649 SF basement area. Our position allows us to take advantage of the beautiful rolling hills of
the Castroville Valley and sets our house at a height challenging that of the landmark historic home, the “white house” at the top of the hill. This design gives the 2nd story balcony and terrace view of the hills in distance which host the hiking trails of Castroville State Park. With this view in mind we have called this house “Prominence”-- (n. the fact or condition of standing
out from something by physically projecting or being particularly noticeable.)
Secondly, part of our vision is to build a home that is centered around family and friends. Holidays, special occasions and Sunday dinners are the reason for the design elements of this home. The pool, casita, kitchen, living room, back porch and terrace will feel as if they are one in the same while still allowing for special spaces for each family member to call their own. This design encourages one of the most important aspects of relationships in all its forms...memories.
