   2023 PRESIDENT
GSABA’S COMMITTEES AND COUNCILS ARE HARD AT WORK!
This year is off to a great start. Your leadership team has been planning several events and government affairs initiatives this past month. One of our first priorities was getting the Professional Women in Building (PWB) Chapter started. We have filed for our Charter with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and our first meeting will be held on March 2nd; details will follow.
Tammy Zink with Bella Vista Homes will Chair the new PWB Council, and Molly Sowry with Virtuoso Builders will Co-Chair. Immediate Past President Mike Sowry and I committed to the Executive Committee last year that we would mentor and seek women in our industry to take leadership positions within our Association. We are excited to form and grow this important Council and look forward to the education, mentorship, and leadership training that this Council will provide.
The Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) has been hard at work on the SMC Million Dollar Awards Breakfast that will be held on Tuesday, February 14th, at GSABA. We will honor over 100 outstanding new home sales professionals and managers. Join us for this exciting event. You can purchase your ticket online at www.sabuilders.com . Dr. Debora Trimpe will be our Keynote Speaker.
If you have been considering getting involved in a council or committee, I urge you to reach out to Kristi or one of the GSABA staff members. We have several opportunities and need members to serve on the membership committee; government affairs and city teams; Young Professionals Leadership Council (YPLC); Sales & Marketing Council (SMC), and we have committees hard at work on the BBQ, Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournament, Clay Shoot and more.
Our next Government Affairs meeting will be held immediately following the Tuesday, February 21st Board of Directors meeting at 1:00 pm in the GSABA Ballroom. We will meet with the City of San Antonio’s Development Services Department leadership team to review permits, inspection turnaround times, and other relevant information.
We will also host a call with Cibolo City Manager Wayne Reed at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 9th.
If you would like to be part of this call, please call the GSABA office to have your name added to the Zoom invitation.
We will meet with the Cibolo City Manager, Chief Building Official, and DSD staff every other month.
Rally Day will be here before we know it, and I want to encourage all of you to get on the bus and make the one-day trip to Austin to call on our elected officials. We have been very engaged with our House and Senate members this last year. This Session has several critical issues facing the residential homebuilding and remodeling industry, and we need your help to

make our voices heard. The bus will leave GSABA at 8:30 am on Wednesday, March 29th, and return to San Antonio at approximately 7:00 pm. You can reserve your spot on the bus and register at www. sabuilders.com.
We are geared up to kick off a new membership program, and I am excited to work with our new Membership Director Kristen Love. Kristen joined us in October of 2022 and has made a difference. We want to grow our membership, and I have appointed three very capable members to lead our Membership Committee this year-Jeff Kuwamura, GSABA’s 2nd Vice President with Sitterle Homes; Haley King with Circa Lighting (and previously our GSABA Membership Director and now a member) and Wyndy Clark with REV Mortgage. We are looking for ten to twelve members who will commit to attending ten membership meetings a year and work on retention and recruitment! Call Kristen at 210-696-3800 to put your name on the list!
You will be glad you did, and remember, you get one key in the drawing at the end of the year for the new car from the North Park Family of Dealerships for every new member you recruit!
Thank you for your membership and for being part of GSABA. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
Sincerely,
8 FEBRUARY 2023 | GREATER SAN ANTONIO BUILDERS ASSOCIATION
