What makes the Greater San Antonio Builders Association Group Medical Program so price competitive compared to other options in the market, and how does it work?
The simple answer lies in its status as a ‘bona fide’ Association program which provides numerous member benefits.
The GSABA Group Medical Program allows companies to
be underwritten outside of the community rating and off the exchange. This means that GSABA rates are determined by claims experience reports or the health status of employees.
These reports and health statements are reviewed by an
actuarial firm to scale each potential member company up or down on a premium grid. The program rates average a 15%-30% savings on healthcare premiums.
The Group Medical Program is administered under one contract with nine plan options: Six PPOs and three HSAs. You can offer as many of these plans as options to your employees that you want and deem necessary.
In addition to the underwriting advantages, the program is written as one large group and therefore benefits from price advantages due to its size and favorable loss ratio. Participating companies benefit greatly at renewal time with minimal rate increases around 5%.
