WHY YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS SO IMPORTANT
It’s July and summer is in full swing. Kids are out of school. It is vacation time! We take a break from our monthly meetings in July so everyone can catch their breath. This is my favorite month of the year. My twins, Hunter and Fisher, were born in July and it is vacation time for me and my family.
GSABA has a birthday coming up too. Our Association will celebrate 80 years of service in 2024. We are one of the oldest Associations in the national federation. We have a very rich history, and I am proud of the work that our national, state, and local association does on behalf of our members and our industry. I have been involved with TAB and NAHB for over 30 years and have seen first-hand the time and investment they make in the residential construction industry.
Membership is the lifeblood of the Association—and is also voluntary. One of the best ways you can serve your local association is to get involved in recruiting new members. Most of you know that when you pay your dues to GSABA, we send over 50 percent of your dues to TAB and NAHB.
TAB and NAHB’s efforts on our behalf are invaluable. This year, we have had some solid victories in Austin and DC getting key legislation passed and challenging federal mandates and rules that make it hard to do our jobs and cost money and valuable time.
GSABA needs your help. We have been short-staffed for the last several months at the Association and our membership numbers are down. Jeff Kuwamura, GSABA’s Second Vice President, is serving as our Membership Chairman. The Membership Committee has been meeting to plan our upcoming recruitment drive. We have a Football DRAFT scheduled for Thursday, July 20th in the ballroom and our actual Membership Drive will be held the week of August 14th. We need you to help us make the upcoming drive a huge success!

Please consider signing up to work the drive and join President Shad, Vice President Tim, Membership Chair Jeff and the Sr. Officers for a cold beverage on Thursday, July 20th. It is a great way to get to know people and have fun too!
Last year, three lucky winners won a three-day Carribean cruise compliments of Randy Oliver with Hollywood Crawford Garage Doors & Openers. Dale and Debbie Sauer; Ed and Kitty Berlanga and Gilbert and Denise Sanchez were treated to four days of fun in the sun along with incredible meals hosted by Randy and Becky Oliver, and I was lucky enough to be there!
