not just a trend—they create soft reflections that impart a calming
ambiance,” say Tanya Selway and Benjamin Stelly, co-principals at
Stelly Selway.
Soft and Organic The shift toward softer, organic tile patterns
introduces a gentle, natural warmth that many bathrooms lack.
“Delicate botanical prints or fluid lines reminiscent of water can soft-
en hard surfaces,” says Mark Tremblay, president of Marc-Michaels
Interior Design. This reimagining of tiles counters the common
perception of cold and rigid materials, creating inviting spaces that
draw you in.
Interior designer Elissa Hall adds that larger, sculpted forms, like
rounded hexagons, are replacing traditional shapes. “These softer
tiles are especially stunning when paired with contemporary design
elements, turning ordinary walls into captivating works of art.”
Micro Patterns “In our designs, we’re constantly exploring fresh
ways to use tile,” says interior designer Erin Sander. One exciting
direction for 2025 involves using micro-pattern tiles wall-to-wall,

enhancing depth and texture. Small, repeating patterns can create
a cohesive backdrop, almost like wallpaper. Sander achieves this
effect using gray Savoy Triangles tiles from Ann Sacks, which reduces
visible grout lines for a flat, seamless look.
Say It With Mosaic “Floors remain a focal point in bathroom
design,” emphasizes interior designer and stylist Sarah Storms. While
wall tiles often steal the spotlight, thoughtful flooring can tie the
entire aesthetic together. Storms loves using mosaic tiles, both for
wet areas like showers and dry floor spaces. This cohesive approach
enhances visual flow, making even smaller bathrooms feel spacious.
In one textured bathroom, she chose a penny-round tile mosaic in
striking blues to introduce vibrant layers of interest. Beyond aes-
thetics, the additional grout between the tiles helps improve slip
resistance. Lori Wilke, founder of Roseberry Allen, sees a resurgence
in this versatile application. “Mosaics allow for endless creativity,
striking a balance between timelessness and playful experimenta-
tion,” she adds.
