DON’T MISS GSABA’S UPCOMING EDUCATION AND NETWORKING EVENTS!
April is Membership Month, and your Association is growing. Join us for our three-day Membership Drive April 16th through the 18th. We closed March with 772 members, and we need your support! Membership is the lifeblood of our Association, and our goal is to reach 800 member companies by April 30th. Together, we can make this happen! To sign up to participate, email Darlene Willis at dwillis@sabuilders.com.
We have some exciting networking and education events planned for April and May. Join us for the GSABA Membership Mixer on Thursday, April 18th at Factory Builders Store from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The team at FBS fires up their grills to serve scrumptious food and drinks, so mark your calendars! It will be held at their showroom located at 17114 Classen Road. The event is free to attend, but RSVPs are required so our team can plan accordingly. You can RSVP online at sabuilders.com
In March, GSABA teamed up with the City of San Antonio’s Development Services Department (DSD) to host a 2024 Code class with 91 members in attendance. DSD provided a training manual with the Top 10 Inspection Turndowns that attendees found invaluable. If you missed the class and would like a copy of the training manual, please call Gaby Smith at 210-696-3800, and she will email you a copy.
Several members have asked for a training class on the 2023 National Electric Code (NEC) and the 2021 Energy Code, and we have scheduled this two-hour workshop on Thursday, May 9th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at GSABA. President Pruski wrote about the challenges with these two codes in his article on page 10. You can make your reservations online at www.sabuilders.com.
The PWB Council is on the move (be sure to read Chairwoman Tammy Zink’s article on their accomplishments on page 20). The Council has already hosted some amazing events, and you won’t want to miss the upcoming blood drive on April 16th (get details and use your phone to scan the QR Code on page 21 to sign up). Then, on May 15th, the group invited Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr. Jayna Mercado Robare, Ph.D. and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Johanna Becho to speak about the critical issues of depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges and the stigma that often comes along with them. Dr. Robare specializes in neurological disorders associated with traumatic brain injuries, and Ms. Becho specializes in domestic violence.

According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 left the world’s mental health status in a significantly worse state. The prevalence of depression and anxiety increased by 25 percent in the wake of the pandemic. Family domestic violence also rose to an all-time high. Statistics and studies show that leaders who prioritize their team’s mental health are also innovators in how they manage, and they look for ways to improve their business and communities and provide a much-needed support network that impacts employee retention, engagement, and productivity.
You can register to attend this important PWB Luncheon at sabuilders.com. If you would like to join this dynamic council, please call Darlene Willis at 210-696-3800 or email her at DWillis@ sabuilders.com.
We will host our May Membership Mixer at Palo Verde Pools on Thursday, May 16th at their new showroom at 25331 West Interstate 10 W. We hope you’ll join us for this networking event with great refreshments! Again, please RSVP online for this free event.
There’s so much going on at your Association; we can’t do it without your help. I invite you to get involved because our strength lies in our numbers, and we need you!
Warm Regards,
