Summer Camps Combine Fun, Learning
Instead of a summer of video games, cell phones and television, make this a summer of adventure and excitement for your children. Many local outlets provide a variety of summer camp options. Florida Tech summer camps make it possible for your child to spend the summer having fun and learning at the same time with camps ranging from academic to athletic to art.
The Marine Science and Coastal Engineering Camp features eld trips and hands-on activities like measuring water quality in the Indian River Lagoon, examining shoreline processes and beach erosion and studying the e ects of pollution on the marine environment. There’s also Girls in STEM, one of Florida Tech’s newest camps designed to provide an opportunity for hands-
on experience in the cutting edge elds of STEM.
Computer camps o er the chance to learn how to make movies or create video games or if being a
pilot has always sounded awesome, Florida Tech has summer ight camps and an advanced aviation academy.
Hanging out on world-
class facilities, Florida Tech’s academic camps for kids create a
constructive environment in which boys and girls can boost
their academic knowledge and establish future
career aspirations. The faculty and sta members are skilled in their
elds and have a commitment to working with
young scholars.
Through their expertise and guidance, students will not only sharpen their minds, but gain a lifetime of memories.
Florida Tech sports camps o er expert instruction and fun in a variety of di erent sports. In state-of-the-art-facilities with options in watersports, basketball, football, lacrosse, snorkeling, soccer and softball. Florida Tech’s sports camps for kids create a positive atmosphere in which boys and girls can take their athletic skills to the next level.
The Foosaner Art Museum’s unique summer art camps for kids emphasize learning through direct observation of art and thoughtful art activities designed by professional art instructors and inspired by current exhibitions and the permanent collection. Each of the summer art camps introduces students to the fundamental concepts of art and also to some of the ideas and practices behind modern art. The instructors lead activities based on art currently on display in the gallery. Activities include everything from art making in the traditional sense to mixed media exploration. Each week, campers accompany their instructors on a eld trip to the galleries, observing and learning about how professional artists created their work. Following the visits, they will then create their own artwork in the Renee Foosaner Education Center studios.
