BPS COVID-19 RESPONSE: BY THE NUMBERS
EMPLOYEES/MOBILIZATION
• Transitioned 5 000 teachers from classroom to distance learning in in under 2 weeks
• Leading & Learning instructional teams prepared lesson plans distributed devices and provided guidance to assist with transition • Moved an estimated 1 000 employees to remote work:
• 600 to food prep and delivery
• Reduced on-site essential staffing to approx 30% of normal capacity
• 0 furloughs and layoffs
• 0 0 0 reported cases to date/9 300 employees DISTANCE LEARNING
• Distributed 15 000 devices to students and teachers ($6M value)
• Secured more than $100 000 in fin in in hot spot (financial and and in-kind) donations from business and and community partners
• Hot spots are currently averaging approx 60 000/month
• Averaging 60 000+ log-ons/day (90% utilization)
PAPER & PENCIL PACKETS
• Distributed 1 1 200 paper/pencil packets for for students in grades K-6 (no data for 6-12)
• FYI – tracking of of students who haven’t made teacher contact was 48 (as of May 1)
• Delivered 23 laptops to to students students in transition schools also supported this outreach effort (so actual number is is higher) 7 students students received paper packets EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION
• 3 3 346 IEP meetings held virtually or by phone (March 16-May 20)
• 574 meetings held (virtually/phone) to determine student eligibility for ESE services (March 16-May 20)
