8910- Publishing Standards
The Board recognizes that the quality of the printed materials published by the District re ects on not only the individual who author them, but also on the school, department, division, and District as a whole. Therefore, the Superintendent shall develop procedures that describe the minimum acceptable standard that all printed material published by the District must meet. These standards shall be communicated to all staff who produce docu- ments that are distributed to student and/or other stakeholders.
Any of cial communication from the district or school of ces should be printed on of cial district letterhead with footer reserved for school principal or director information. Any em- ployee business cards printed through the district print shop will meet the standard district form.
This expectation does not prevent teachers from enjoying the liberty of designing and printing their own unique letterhead for purposes of sending letters home to families. Nor would it pre- vent teachers from designing and printing their own “unof cial” business cards. This expectation is to communicate a district standard for of cial school communication and representation. The district print shop will be used for printing of cial school letterhead and business cards only.

• If registration is to be done by phone, iers advertising school system activities should include a statement explaining that personal assistance will be available if requested when registering in advance.
Publication Approval
• Board Policy states that school system information for system wide or community distribution must be approved in advance by the appropriate supervisor and the Of ce of Government and Community Relations. Any special information such
as communications about new schools, new programs or controversial material also must be reviewed by Government and Community Relations prior to printing. This would include a ier or brochure about a new districtwide program, but not a school or department newsletter. It does not include routine announcements or publications a school might
send to all of its students. However, it would include an announcement sent to all students in the district.
Publication approval forms are available from the Of ce
of Government and Community Relations.
