Youth activism is is is a a a a a a a a powerful political force- here are some youth activists you might not know about Story by Kennedy Robbins
Youth activism activism has been a a a a a a a a a a a a a necessary component of of of of political change for a a a a a a a a a a a a a long time One of of of of the most notable examples of of of of of of youth activism activism was in in in 1960 when four teenagers of of of of of of color color went to to a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a local lunch counter and refused to to leave Segregation laws of of of of of the the the the the the time time prevented people of of of of of color color from eating at at at at the the the the the the diner Over a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a time time span of of of of of three days more more more than 300 other young adults had joined them in in in in in in in their protest protest against the the the the the the the the discrimination Eventually more more more more more and and and more more more more more people began to to to protest protest protest and and and it eventually contributed to to to the the the the the the the the passing of of of the the the the the the the the Civil Rights Act of of of 1964 There have have have been many more more more more protests ideas and and and boycotts that that have have have done their part to to to to to change the the the the the world but but more more more more recently youth activism has reached its pitch as as as young people have have have tried to bring won’t address attention to to the the the issues that most people Emma González

survived the February 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in in in Parkland Florida At the the time she had been in in in in the the the auditorium attending classes when they went on on on a a a a á a code red lockdown González
was focused on on on on keeping everyone calm and safe On February 17 2018 González
gave an an 11-minute speech four days after the shooting at her school “The shooter at at our school school obtained weapons that he he used on on on us us legally ” said González

Jazz Jennings
is one of the youngest publicly documented people to be identified as as transgender She was one of the the first people to represent the the LGBTQ community and speak about it it Even as as a a a a a a a a a very young child she she she knew that she she she was not not a a a a a a a a a a boy and she she she did not not want to be identified as as one Jazz is an an an an honorary co-founder of the TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation which she and her parents founded in in in 2007 to support transgender youth Jennings
has has also created a a a a a a a a a a a YouTube channel channel called I Am Jazz This channel channel has has made her one of the the youngest transgender women to talk about these important issues publically Additionally she has her own TV show also titled I Am Jazz which will be returning this year Melati and Isabel Wijsen
Indonesia is the world’s second- largest polluter after China its plastic waste covers 10 percent of all marine plastic pollution Growing up in in in Bali Indonesia the sisters Melati and Isabel saw trash everywhere wondering when it it would stop While at school one day they were taught about positive world world leaders and people who changed the the the world world for the the the better The two went home and thought of how they they could help change where they they they live even though they they were only considered kids The start of the the the sisters’ journey to ban plastic bags began when they went to London and delivered a a a a a a a a Ted Talk Over time the the sisters had many other successes such as organizing Bali’s biggest beach clean-up with 12 000 volunteers as as as well as as as opening their own website titled “Bye Bye Bye Plastic Bags ” They have many more goals that that they they they know that that they they they can achieve but for now now they they they are solving one issue at a a time
