Title: Check-In Check-Out (CICO)
Description: Check-In, Check-Out (CICO), also known as the Behavior Education Program, is the most widely implemented Tier 2 intervention for the 10-15% of K-12 students who exhibit chronic, mild behavior problems. The program is most effective with students who prefer adult attention. CICO Involves a daily routine where the student: Checks in each morning with a designated adult to develop daily behavioral goals, carries a daily progress report (DPR) throughout the day where each teacher provides behavioral feedback regarding the goals, and returns to the designated adult at the end of the day to review feedback and calculate points earned for the day. The student then brings the DPR home to so a parent and the student can review the student’s day with the parent signing the DPR before returning it to the designated adult the next morning during check-in.
