At our December council, we were very conscious of the
fact that our membership in Northern Ireland is securely
restricted in the movement of cattle back from the
mainland. Therefore, it was proposed that any cattle
entered for the Carlisle May sale would be pre-inspected
at home before making the journey to Carlisle. I hope this
will bring added confidence to you all to attend this sale.
With any thriving organisation, good administration is key.
We are very fortunate in having Andy Ryder as company
secretary and Diane Hayton as society administrator. I must
thank them both for the time and quality role they play in
this society, which is now run under the umbrella of
Pedigree Livestock Services.
As I write this report, we are constantly seeing week-on-
week price records broken in the commercial livestock beef
industry, very many of these being British Blue pedigrees
and commercial crosses. Please take this as
encouragement and a great outlook for our breed.
With that thought, I wish you all good health, prosperity,
and happiness from the British Blue Cattle Society for 2025.
