SOUTH WEST BRITISH BLUE CLUB REPORT 2023
Next on the showing calender was Bath & West with a good
entry of Blues with the Championship going to the
Jenkinson's Dymond Blue Roisin with Lucy Gould's heifer
Withywood Sassy Lassie taking reserve spot.
A week later it's Royal Cornwall Show being judged by
Society Chairman Graham Brindley. He picked out his
Champion to be Dymond Blue Roisin expertly shown by
Julie Rooks this is the second year in a row this heifer has
had the Championship at Royal Cornwall. Nathaniel Doble
was reserve with Newdowns Rocky. The Premier Breeder
and Exhibitor awards were both won by the Jenkinson's
Dymond Blue herd.
At most of the local one-day shows numbers were down
but the quality was outstanding, with the Blues achieving
great results in the interbreed competitions.
Cornwall Pedigree Calf show proved to be a clean sweep
for John & Yvonne Hopkins, winning the Championship
with their heifer, Delhorn Twice as Nice and Delhorn Titter
ye Not in reserve.
Agrifest saw Fred & Joe Power and John & Yvonne Hopkins
supporting the calf classes with Fred & Joe taking
Champion and reserve Continental with their bull calf
Lewemcor Tango Bell. John & Yvonne, with their bull calf
Delhorn Tommy 2 Shoes in reserve spot.
December saw fun and laughter at the annual Christmas
party and show awards presentation at Beambridge Inn
Wellington. Newpole Livestock were delighted to win the
award for best male shown in 2023, then team Jenkinson
had best Female, Home-Bred, Show Team, Pairs and
Overall Champion awards. A great night was had by all!
The end of January saw some club members back at
Beambridge for the annual interbreed quiz comprising of
12 teams which was sponsored by the South West Club,
the Blue team being Jools Turner, Pip White, Alicia Judkins
and Benny Paine, a great night with the Blues winning
overall!!
The showing season started off at Devon County Show with the Championship going to Fred & Jo Power's 6-month-
old heifer Lewemcor Sparkler Bell, with reserve going to Nigel & Candy Jenkinson's senior heifer Dymond Blue
Roisin. The interbreed group of three champions were a trio of Dymond Blue's comprising of Roisin, Sarah and
Sydney.
