  NACC CARE CHEF OF THE YEAR 2018
The 2018 NACC Care Chef of the Year national  nal delivered all the culinary skills, creativity, talent, tension and excitement you’d expect from such an important event. The results delivered a competition  rst, plus an unplanned  re alarm added a touch of drama!
                                                        2018 was the year of the Scots, marking the first time in the competition’s history that
a NACC region has had two chefs in the top three. John Grover of Auchtercrag House Care Home, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, took the coveted title, with Brian Gollan of Ivybank House Care Home, Polmont, Falkirk, claiming
WINNER
third place and the certificate for Highly Commended Main.
John’s excellent menu of Lamb with black pudding and herbs followed by Chocolate and raspberry fondant cheesecake with caramel port cream caught the eye and taste buds of the judges. They praised his well-presented,
2ND PLACE
unique dishes that showed inventive use of classic ingredients, featured varied textures and, of course, tasted great. They also highlighted his excellent use of inexpensive produce. From a nutritional perspective, his knowledge and understanding of the needs of care home residents impressed.
