Buckland Newton Place
The Parish Church of the Holy Rood
The Church of the Holy Rood, which stands near the centre of the parish of Buckland Newton, has a Chancel that dates back to the 13th century.The nave and the north and south aisles of the church all date from the 15th century, as do the west tower and the south porch.
The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments has stated that the Chancel of Buckland Newton is “the most notable 13th century building” in central Dorset.
The Vicarage of the Parish Church of the Holy Rood
In the early 18th century a vicarage was built close to the Church of the Holy Rood. The vicarage is now known as Buckland Newton Place.
