WHY DO YOU WANT TO SERVE ON THE BAGI BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
I would like to continue as a current member to further engage with the Board of Directors and to help by contributing impactful ideas and solutions to today’s challenges. I strongly believe I provide the dedication, knowledge and network of resources to positively impact the BAGI building community.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION AS A BOARD MEMBER?
To invest the effort required that produces results that align with the BAGI mission. I would work to create solutions to the current construction challenges by networking with BAGI members to leverage resources and experiences of the industry professionals to adapt to market demands that will bene t the entire industry.
HOW ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED WITH BAGI?
I was selected by the Board of Directors as an Ex-Of cio position in 2018. I led the charge for my employer 84 Lumber to be selected as a vendor/sponsor for the Building Partners of Indiana (BPCI)
a subsidiary of BAGI. I really enjoy participating in the BAGI Bash each year. We have taken advantage of multiple sponsorship opportunities for the Combined County, Hendricks County and Johnson County Golf Outings. We are currently a member of the
Hendricks County Council. We volunteer and support the Ben Da- vis Career Fair initiative to bring career opportunities to students. We are also this year’s presenting sponsor for the 2020 Leadership Conference in French Lick, IN. We are excited to continue our support of BAGI and BPCI and grow our involvement in 2020!
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT POSITION AT WORK?
I am the Area Manager for 84 Lumber Company in the Midwest. I am responsible for all operations for 13 facilities in 5 states. 5 of which are in Indiana. I’ve been with 84 Lumber for 19 years and in the building materials industry for a total of 23 years.
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES FACING THE RESIDENTIAL INDUSTRY AND HOW CAN BAGI ADDRESS THEM?
Industry labor shortage The skilled labor shortage across the trades in the construction industry has become very challenging. I believe that BAGI could help address this problem by creating initiatives in bringing awareness to today’s youth of the vast array of opportunities the industry has to offer. I believe it’s imperative that we leverage each other as we are all affected by this problem to support the viability of the market demands.
HOW HAVE YOUR EXPERIENCES IN THE BUILDING INDUS- TRY CARRIED OVER TO THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?
The industry has awarded me growth opportunities professionally and nancially that have allowed me to provide for my family. I have been fortunate to have gained valuable relationships that have grown into true friends and mentors. I have become an ambassador of the construction industry through years of opportu- nities and experiences. I now enjoy mentoring others, as I was fortunate to have experienced myself. The 84 Lumber core values and culture I work in is very much a family atmosphere, those values directly correlate to my personal family life.
LASTLY WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS/HOBBIES?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy watching my children play sports. I have a passion for music and enjoy attending live music events.
