wrote. Well, that’s going to take a
bit of explaining. This company
thrives on the dedication,
intelligence and continued e orts
of some 30 employees who are here
52 weeks a year. On the ipside,
the employees do their jobs for the
thousands of loyal customers who
prove that OmniSite products and technology help protect this planet.
But it didn’t happen overnight.
It all began about 35 years ago, when a 19-year-old kid originally from the Westside of Indianapolis, became “ rst o the farm,” as folks called it. Not a real farm. It just meant Tom Ward was the rst of his family to attend college. In the late 1970s, this was a feat for anyone who was born into an inner-city neighborhood, where factories and foundries outnumbered schools and churches. Fortunately though, he and his family moved to Oaklandon, where he spent his
youth and set a course for
higher learning.
He earned his diploma and set his sights on a college degree. Ward attended Purdue University. As a co-op student,
he began his professional career
at Honeywell Corporation in 1980, where he worked as a technician, a programmer and then an engineer. Eventually, Ward landed a position
in research and development for the company’s Minneapolis o ce. But by about 1985, he made tracks back to
his Hoosier state and moved on to a programmer and engineer post at Johnson Controls until 1987.
Eager to take his skills and ambition to another level, Ward founded Precision Control Systems of Indianapolis with two other partners. As Vice President, Ward continued honing his craft as an engineer
and sales representative at this controls and system integration rm until 1998.
