At the beginning of 2000, Ward took the XR50 and moved his company to a bona de, albeit
small, o ce in
Greenwood.
Throughout
the rest of
the year, he
and his sta
completed all
the automation projects previously in progress and nalized the development of the XR50 wireless monitoring system.
m
Ward then applied for (and received) a patent on its technology and began selling XR50 units by
January of 2001.
It was during this time the “Logical Concepts Inc.” name was changing to Omni-site.
net. The name transition made perfect sense for a business dedicated to the
manufacture, sales
and online support of the XR50.
“I thought If I could
develop something that could help protect this planet, it would improve the lives of others.” –Tom Ward
Ward set out to promote the wireless technology for monitoring remote equipment, and he found the wastewater industry to be the most receptive. So he shifted operations
to optimize the XR50 for use as a sewage lift station monitor. He created the
XR50 to use cellular
technology in
combination with
the Internet to
provide a low-cost
monitoring device. It uses the Internet to monitor and program
the system.
In terms of pro t, Omni-site.net sales grew from $230,000 in 2001 to $432,000 in 2002.
