Back in its beginnings, though long after this structure churned out furniture, it remained a warehouse
for various businesses. These businesses eventually burned out—literally and guratively. Following a couple of res, the abandoned building became an eyesore to the community. Then when the state constructed Interstate-70, the highway dissected the Old Southside, hemming it in from nearby downtown Indy and all its urban development.
When Ward researched the property in 2015, he imagined a brighter future for this building and for OmniSite. Fortunately for both, he’s a bit of
a visionary.
