Team’s biggest question mark(s): New coach. New division. Can they all rise to the occasion and hang week in and out with the bigger schools.
2020 expectations: Thatcher has a rich football history and an excellent recent run. We expect to be in the mix and fight for a state title no matter what division we are placed in. With so many returning starters and a few key additions look for Thatcher to make their presence felt in 3A.
REGION NOTES: Former Safford head coach Eric Hjalmarson is now the head coach at Willcox. Thatcher moved up from 2A. Jeremy Beamon is in his first year at San Tan Foothills.
CENTRAL REGION
ALA-Gilbert North
Head coach: Randy Ricedorff.

Strengths of offense: Jack Ricedorff is a three year starter at QB. All offensive lineman but one return. Easton Webster returning at RB is very promising. All four of our receivers are bigger, faster, and stronger and know the system better. Strengths of defense: The size (6-3 average) and speed of our defensive front is impressive. Both of our outside LB’s return and are very flexible in what they can do.
Team’s biggest question mark(s): We have to find a middle LB. We have to replace Kade Thorley at center, who was very good. Anxious to see who steps up and challenges some of the returning players as well as creating depth.
2020 expectations: To win the state championship.
