SequoiaYouthServices(SYS)isanoutpatientchildren'smentalhealthproviderthatismarkingits20years ofexistence.SYSservesprimarilysmal,ruralcommunitiesinnortheasternTulareCounty.SYSprovides specialtymentalhealthservicetoMedi-caleligiblechildren,ages0to18,includingsupporttotheirfamily members.SYSsucesthroughouttheyearsisvastlyduetoourdeplyrootedrelationshipsformedwithour smaltowncommunitypartners.Nothingcrystalizeswhatyoubringtothetablemorethanwhatyouare
greatat;which,overtimehasmadeSYSatrustedcommunityaly. isyearhasbroughtoutthestrength
oTurningPoint’sMision“ToServePeopleinNed;”asourbraveryand convictiontodoso,hasonlyepitomizedthetruefoundationofSequoiaYouthServices.
THISYEAR:
SYShasserved513uniqueclientsandfamiliesmidwaythroughtheyear.SYSclienteismadeupof246 male,269females;ofwhich,80% areofHispanicorigin,19% areCaucasian,while1% ofourpopulation recognizeaseither;AmericanIndian;AfricanAmerican;Guamanian;andLahu.Duringthecourseofthis time,SYSenroled186clientsintoservices,dischargedatotalof188clients,whilesucesfulydischaring
88casesfrom treatment.SYSprovided14,158uniqueservices;sincetheonsetofCovid19,(TeleHealth& phoneservices)10,387uniqueservicesbenprovidedtochildrenandfamilies.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
SYSmadetheconversiontoimplementtheuseofTeleHealthservicesinamaterofdays.SYSpuled togetheritsavailableresources–andthroughnumerousmetings,SYSconverteditsworkforcetouse;Tele Healthbasedservices,whilemakingthetransitiontoalowmoststafftoworkfrom home.Asahighlight from thisJune(2020),tolastyear(2019),SYSbiled1,951servicescomparedto892serviceslastyear. Further,SYSbiled96,907minutes,comparedto50,837minutes,resulting,inmorechildrenmental healthservicesbeingprovidedin2020.SYSstaffdidnotblinkaneyewhenitcametomusteringthe
  oventureintotheunknown.Overtime,ourstaff’scon􏰀denceleveltounderstandtechnology-based servicescontinuestogrow.Moreimportantly,staffhavedonethiswhileremainingcircumspecttothe
uniquenedsoftheirclients.Althoughbilableunitsmeasureoneaspectofourbusines,SYSstaffgenuine abilitytoserveothershasproventobekeyinseizingthemomentduringtheseuncertaintimes.
