And let’s just whisper the three little words I long to hear: Mariposa Ice Creamery has its first retail exposure at this store. Otherwise they do events, fairs and festivals and the occasional warehouse sale from their Petaluma site. You’ll find Three Twins Ice Cream, too. My summer is really shaping up. Other items include Clover and Straus products and non-dairy choices.
Please help identify the two persons who hurt pets
The full coffee and goody bar carries Bump City Bakery’s gluten-free products, “which sell out quickly” said Shaina. There are goodies and breads from Red Bird Bakery and Full Circle Bakery. The Sunshine Coffee Roasters coffee is organic and sustainable, coming from West County. You can order cold black tea and they make herbal tea iced or hot.
Another neighbor stated, “Last year someone in this area shot a cat with a B.B. gun and punctured the cat’s eye.”
The families’ four children keep busy loading wood and sweeping. “They get treats like ice cream, apples, and juice,” said Shaina. “They’ve been real troupers.” You’ll meet these great kids: Rowan and Lucca Ferraro and Ian and Isla McDowell.
Seven dogs, four adults and three pups, in the county area outside Healdsburg. Sonoma County Animal Shelter is asking for help. “See a car or person on May 23 on Hassett & Lytton Station area. Did you see a person or
a car by the Community Garden off Snyder Lane and Keiser that same day?” These puppies were not well socialized so it is assumed that they came from a backyard breeder.
Rebecca McDowell serves as general manager, handing produce and vendor contacts, and carries the overall vision for the store. Husband Evan McDowell is all-‘round handyman and grocery expert.
People often think they will be able to make money selling puppies if they let their dog have a litter, but feeding a nursing mother dog and eight to ten quickly growing pups is expensive. Abandoning dogs is illegal. It also is immoral. These puppies were saved by a number of kind people who trapped them quickly. They may well have been hit by cars, bitten people, or attacked by predators. Quoted from The Community Voice, All About Pets by Mickey Zeldes, Supervisor at the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter. Please call Sonoma County Animal Control if you witnessed the person who abandoned these dogs.
The store, smack in downtown Penngrove, is open daily from 8:00am to 9:00 pm (closing at 8:00pm on Sundays).
...and YES, you can pick up your monthly copy of the Gazette at the market, if you haven’t already picked it up at Java More! Thank you for reading our community column!
26th Annual Kids Day Parade & Festival, July 14th
“To educate a person in the mind but not in morals is to educate a menace to society.” ― Theodore Roosevelt
A neighbor’s dog was bitten by a raccoon about June 8th. No, this dog did NOT get lost. He simply went outside in his backyard. Luckily, Simba is healing well and he is enjoying a walk every morning to spend the day with family at their business. This note refers to my June column on keeping your pets safe.
I feel intense disgust at those who intentionally injure or kill animals. People do things to hurt pets, others do dumb (and illegal) things that endanger animals. Both types of animal cruelty actions have recently been committed nearby.
A resident shot a neighbor’s cat. Not the first time, but on June 12, in Lorraine Court, North area, caused the cat’s death. The owners posted a notice on Nextdoor.com, an Internet social site. “...we found our cat in the roses, paralyzed. In the E.R. we were told he had been shot thru the spine.” Help is requested to catch this person. The family wants him prosecuted for this felony act. Please call if you have information on (707)481-9126.
Cruelty to pets?
Why abandon five-month-old Shepherd mix puppies?
The theme is “Local Heroes.” Bring the whole family. Costumes encouraged. The parade starts at 10:00 AM at the Cotati City Hall. Join the parade and walk through downtown Cotati to La Plaza Park where the judges and the festival await. Come early (7:00 – 9:00am) for a FREE pancake breakfast at the Church of the Oaks.

“The caller said, I would be receiving a nice credit on my PG&E bill. He asked me to verify my address etc. For the second time, I asked if he worked for PG&E. No affirmative answer. I hung up and called PG&E to verify if this was legit. Called PG&E. It was a SCAM.” Sharing the PG&E scam line in case this happens to you. 1-833-500-7226 (Scam).
