Omega Events announces the cancellation of the 2019 Russian River Jazz and Blues Festival.
But wait. Will a home-grown festival come to the rescue?
Following the April 24th cancellation announcement, a broad-based coalition of Russian River community organizations are exploring the possibility of producing a home-grown version of the festival on the previously slated September 6-8th weekend.
The current vision is to organize a one-day Blues event at the Monte Rio Amphitheater on Saturday September 7th, and then for all venues big and small, from Rio Nido to Duncans Mills to organize their own Jazz /Blues inspired events beginning Friday Sept 6, continuing through Sunday Sept 8.
Local restaurants, non-profits and arts organizations will be invited to participate as well. Think of it as a grass roots, bootstrapped Jazz and Blues themed weekend party all along the lower River communities.
All offerings will be publicized through a central website.
The Russian River Jazz and Blues Festival is a long-standing cultural tradition and a vital economic driver for the small West County communities. It is our hope to keep the spirit of the Festival alive while supporting the economic health of our very special region.
No promises yet. But for now, grab your pencil and hold the date. Go to https://tinyurl.com/Blues-Jazz-2019 to sign up to receive updates, to share your ideas or to get involved.
