Forestville FPD The Forestville Firefighters Association conducted their annual Labor Day raffle. We would like to thank our community for their continued support of the Forestville Firefighters Association. With the support of the community, we are able to purchase new equipment to help support the Fire District’s needs. The Association would like to congratulate this year’s winners!

The Forestville Firefighters have had a very busy summer. Most recently, we had an engine covering CAL FIRE stations around Sonoma County and we also had an engine at the Snell Fire in Napa County. All units have returned home safely.

Oct 31 ~ Halloween Spaghetti Dinner...We will be giving away candy at the Fire Station at 3750 Highway 116 North. Enjoy the FREE spaghetti dinner cooked by your favorite volunteer firefighters. Fire engines will be on display.
Backyard Burning—not yet...The many wildland fires should remind everyone not to burn... but the cooler weather may have given some thoughts about backyard burning. CAL FIRE and the County Fire Marshal will not lift the ban on burning until there is at least two inches of rain AND the threat to the wildland decreases. Before burning, always call the firehouse, 707-823-8400 x105, and we post it on the sign in front of our fire station. Remember, you always need a permit to burn; the Air Quality District permit applications and instructions are available outside the front door of the firehouse.
Russian River FPD The Russian River Firefighters Association would like to thank everyone who attended and donated at the Giveback Tuesday event at the Rainbow Cattle Company. The funds raised will go toward much needed equipment replacement. The next meeting of the Board
of Directors will be October 10 at 6pm at the fire station. We hope you’ll consider attending. Visit us on line at russianriverfire.org.

A parcel tax would create a sustainable and dedicated source of revenue to enhance public safety, decrease response times, and better serve the residents of our district. works to educate people about three basic but essential steps to take to reduce the likelihood of having a fire––and how to escape safely in the event of one:
Look
Fourth Place: Greg & Kim Christie
for places fire could start. Take a good look around your home.
Identify potential fire hazards and take care of them.
Listen
for the sound of the smoke alarm. You could have only
minutes to escape safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Go to your outside meeting place, which should be a safe distance from the home and where everyone should know to meet.
Learn
two ways out of every room and make sure all doors and
windows leading outside open easily and are free of clutter.
Also, Sparky the Fire Dog® has a new friend, Simon, who is helping teach this year’s FPW messages—He’s a smart, resourceful character who will join Sparky in spreading fire-safety messages to adults and children alike.
A little more about Fire Prevention Week:
Since 1922, the NFPA has sponsored the public observance of Fire Prevention Week. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance, making it the longest-running public health observance
in our country. During Fire Prevention Week, children, adults, and teachers learn how to stay safe in case of a fire. Firefighters provide lifesaving public education in an effort to drastically decrease casualties caused by fires.
Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage. This horrific conflagration killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.
Bodega Bay FPD BBFPD has been very busy, as October 1, marks the deadline for submission of our Final Budget for FY 18/19. We hope that our Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) request for a Municipal Services Review (MSR) will be completed very soon. Keep an eye out for this document; we hope it will point us in the right direction as the County continues to suggest regional consolidations.
It is a bittersweet moment for us. Volunteer FF/EMT Michael Porter has accepted a position with the Humboldt Bay Fire District, we wish him well.
Camden Plummer was recently hired as a F/T Firefighter/Paramedic and will start on October 1st.
As always, please like us on Facebook and look us up online at bbfpd.org.
