P. 2

Dear Readers,
So now Gazette readers know I sold the Gazette to Sonoma Media Investments and very little has changed. I’m still working way-too long hours, but over time that will change. My most compassionate reader-friends wish me well and understand. Others are afraid of the change and other changes that will come in the future.
Nothing stays the same. But I’m old and tired and I need to get a life. I love what I do. Don’t get me wrong. I really do. But there has to be a way for the Gazette to continue without me so I don’t die at this desk!
Things I have had to explain...the Gazette comes out on a Wednesday - NOT on the 1st of the month. I’m sorry you got scared that the paper wasn’t on newsstands on the 1st. I’m glad I scheduled extra time on the production schedule because I needed the time! Transitions are never easy!
SMI bought the Gazette to keep it alive and they are learning about
what they bought. Our little team of people do an amazing job putting this together...but how does a large company deal with this process and product that is so unlike what they are used to? They are learning, too. We are all groping our way into the new life for the Gazette one step at a time. So please be patient. We’re all learning.
In the mean time, I LOVE how our writers ran with out LOVE where you LIVE theme. I have really enjoyed reading it as I put this puzzle together.
And it’s ELECTION time, so I am going full-tilt into supporting candidates and Measures that I believe support our home. And whether I agree with some or not (always my policy) our writers know they can support a Measure, Initiative, Candidate as well. That’s the whole point of the Gazette. This is YOUR publication. And it’s why SMI bought it. They want to CONTINUE having the gazette be YOUR VOICE. So rest-assured, THAT hasn’t changed!
We are all working through change and change is happening across the planet, not just here at home...CHANGE. The thing that frightens
us the most and the thing that excites us the most.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Turn and face the strange by David Bowie. A child of the 60s, I remember... OK BOOMER!
“I enjoy working with the Sonoma County Gazette as I believe
in local advertising for real estate properties. I find most of the people wanting property in Occidental or similar areas are people who are familiar with the area and want to live there.
We have enjoyed recent success with our ads and find the people at the Gazette prompt, thorough and a pleasure to work with.”
