I have groovy news for you!! As most of you know, I have been searching for that special someone to take over the writing of this column. I feel that it’s time for a fresh perspective and have found a person who wants to share her spark and passion of our area with you.
Whether you are a long-time local or new to the area, you most likely have been on the receiving end of this person’s beautiful smile and positive personality. She was raised in the West County with her numerous brothers and sisters, who were all very active throughout West County.
She graduated from El Molino High School in 1978 and has raised her own family here as well.
As a business owner and volunteer/member of numerous local committees, she has her finger on the pulse of our community and will bring you all the latest groovy news about our town. Please look for the new column name in the March edition of the Gazette, which will be written by none other than our own, drum roll, please... Yvette Richardson-Bidegain, AKA Saucy Mama!
For those of you with news to share in upcoming editions, please reach out to Yvette at yvesvet@gmail.com. Thank you, Yvette, for volunteering your time and positive energy; we know you are going to be GREAT at this!
February is full of fun, loving stuff to do... it is the month of love after all! Oh, did you know that Yvette’s favorite color is red? Here is some interesting history before we jump into our happenings: July 28, 2020, marks the Sesquicentennial (150 years) of Guerneville. John Bagley petitioned
in February of 1870 to Washington for the establishment of a post office at Guerneville and was appointed the first Postmaster of “Guerneville” on July 28, 1870.
fundraiser for the year, to help support activities for the kids and provide
hot lunches throughout the year....this event is a LOT of fun for the whole family and the 300 tickets will sell out quickly as there is a huge raffle, music, dancing and of course pasta, salad and bread. Another upcoming event
you need to purchase tickets for well in advance is Perrish Sings Sinatra! Presented by the Monte Rio Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, March
7th. There will be a no-host bar, pasta, salad, roll, and dessert at 6 pm with the show beginning at 7 pm at the Monte Rio Community Center. Enjoy the renowned Bay Area entertainer Perrish D’Andrea as he sings the songs of Frank Sinatra. Tickets are available at Eventbrite or MonteRio.org.
More changes in the downtown corridor... Post Office Plus has moved from The Plaza Building (which is for sale) to Rio Nido. They are now located in the original post office just adjacent to the tunnel that goes under River Rd. Country Tire, after 42 years, has closed its doors forever; thank you to the Buck Family for all of their generous support given to our community throughout those years. Whether it was tire service, donating items for fundraising raffles, Friendship and Support through the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s, oh and keeping the Corned Beef and Cabbage Feed going all of those years!!! We wish Stan, Mark & Sue the best in their future! (BTW, Mark is another El Molino Alumni; we were in the class of ‘79 together). Noel’s Automotive over in Monte Rio will now be offering tire services. Thank
you, Chris Garske (another El Molino alumni) for providing a much-needed service! Rumor has it that there is a new Sushi restaurant going in where Chef Patrick’s was.....but then again, I have yet to see the rumored Cider Ale House open where the Seafood Restaurant was......change is good.....and speaking of change, please be sure to welcome Yvette to the Gazette!!
It’s been fun groovin’ with all of you over the years!!
