Art Trails sampler
October 14 & 15, 21 & 22 sonomacountyarttrails.org
By Ramona and Jim Kely
Because I’m a writer and an artist, my husband, Jim, roped me into helping
him with a project for Vesta. As I waded into this endeavor, I asked Jim if I could talk directly to the artist, mano a mano if you will. Jim never says no to me. I hope you tag along for the ride through Art Trails this year and keep in mind, the Gazette has posted all of our suggestions for visiting 2017 Art Trails participants on their website at SonomaCountyGazette.com
Buckle up, Jim, and try to behave.
Cotati
Functional, sculptural, ceramic jewelry Studio 126, 390 W. Cotati Ave.
(707) 992-0747, www.tocher.net
Forestville
Barbara Tocher
Blending African and Middle Eastern tones with new-world tastes, your jewelry, Barbara, evokes the feeling of planets strung together. Your ceramics also bring the scope of genius into play with a seeming ability to think, not just outside the box but out of the Universe as well. My husband, Jim, tells me I can never visit your studio.
Jane Fusek,
Digital, Mixed Media, Sculpture Studio 84, 5623 Fallen Apple Ln., (707) 273-2656, janefusek.com
Like buttered popcorn, I couldn’t have just one of your pieces. I would need an entire wall adorned with your work to show the breath of such talent.
Kenwood
Susan Miron
Baskets created with all-natural materials Studio 14, 124 Treehaven Ct.
(707) 833-4683, susanmironart.com
I feel I could keep my most precious memories inside your baskets, Susan and their woven strength will keep my treasures safe. Your baskets speak far more elegantly than I ever could.
Petaluma
Henry White
Landscapes, still-life, portraits in oils Studio 139, 5 Haven Dr.
(707) 763-6198, henrywhiteart.com
You show such strength in the women you paint, Henry, I suspect there’s a lucky lady in your life to give you such inspiration. Your work is so diverse and professional, it’s hard to pick only one painting.
Healdsburg
Sargam Griffin
Large abstracts, figures & artdoors Studio 39, 15572 Pozzan Rd.
(707) 799-6743, SargamGriffin.com
At first glance, Sargam, I feel like I’m looking outward, warmed from the inside.
I find myself in a world at peace. If abstract, bordering on the thin line of impressionism, has a strong voice, it’s yours.
Now it’s your turn.
Pick up a catalog and take it with you because you may find yourself in places with no cell reception. We’d love to know your finds. Please COMMENT on the website article so we can explore your suggestions until the tour closes on October 22nd.
