Time changes everything. It’s what I remind people when they are angry or hurt. We can look back through our lives to see the changes and the consequences that came out of actions.
There are some real advantages to getting old. It gives us perspective. These last few months made the previous months look like a walk-in-the-park, as the old saying goes. Who could have predicted a global health crisis in the middle of a societal and political upheaval.
But let’s not get too bummed out about this. It’s easy to fall into a dark hole of our own digging. What’s the Rule of Holes? STOP DIGGING.
Do we have any control over our own hole when others are tossing dirt into it as fast as we are shoveling it out? In a way. What’s the other rule? (There are so many.) You can’t change anyone but yourself.
So we learn, and we grow, and we change.
This issue was supposed to be all about having FUN. So was the June issue...I’m giving that up. The Gazette has a life of its own because it’s written by people in our community who have a lot on their minds. It’s been that way since I started this almost 20 years ago. If all goes well, it will continue being a vehicle for your voices well into the future.
With that in mind...we have opinions...serious topics, fun topics like eating...communities who are responding to changes within their own boundaries...and we’re all connecting with each other right here on these printed pages. THANK YOU for being part of our mutual journey.
OPIOID ADDICTION HELP Addiction is a disease - not a moral failure.
Project HOPE is an evidence-based program that offers a medicated assisted treatment.
We are here to help you break the chain of addiction in the comfort of your own home.

Change is part of life...let’s see what we can make of it.
