2 Locational NP で ‘at/in/on’ (the domain of an action)
As you have studied in Lesson 4D, the particle で marks the domain of a condition.
1. ハーバード大学は、アメリカで 一ばん ふるいです。
‘Harvard University is the oldest in the US.’
Use the particle で to mark a place where some action or event takes place.
2. あした りょうで パーティがあります。
‘There will be a party at my dorm.’
3. わたしは、まい日 一時から三時まで としょかんで べんきょうします。
‘I study in the library everyday from one to three.’
The location particle で cannot be used to indicate a location of a stable entities.
