1 Adjectival (i-adjective) conjugations – non-past
An adjective whose dictionary form ends in い (i.e., i-adjective), conjugates in the non-past
(present) as follows.
NPは 〜いです (affirmative) 〜くないです (negative)
1. おもしろいです
2. おもしろくないです
The following is slightly irregular.
3. いいです(<よいです) 4. よくないです
‘It is interesting.’
‘It is not interesting.’
‘It is good.’
‘It is not good.’
2 あんまり/あまり+negative‘(not)too’ あんまり must accompany the negative form.
1. あんまり むずかしくないです。‘It is not too difficult.’ 2.あんまり やさしくないです。
