The year 2018 witnessed the very first in-house production of a Middle School Musical Concert in GEMS OOEHS. Adapted from the popular animated Disney movie ‘Frozen’, and set in the exotic land of Arabia, the play ‘Enchanted’ enthralled audiences on three consecutive days from the 9th to 11th December 2018. The icy settings of the movie were intricately woven into an Arabian setting with ochre sandy dunes and glimpses of its culture, including the magnificent camel and Memo the sand puppet, as the liveliest characters. The heart-warming theme and mellifluous music of the movie were retained.
Seventeen magnificent actors were shortlisted among 200 plus students who turned up for the auditions, which was indeed a tough ride for teachers. An astoundingly impressive 100-girl choir brought the soulful music to life and about 70 graceful, vibrant dancers enlivened the stage with their contemporary moves. The entire Art department was instrumental in creating the Arabian setting on stage. The audio and visual committee of ingenious students and teachers, supported the play with perfect and timely sound effects and visuals, making ‘Enchanted’ a spectacular treat for all.
