WHY BUY LOCAL?
Buying from local farmers means you are getting your food at its peak. Fresh foods purchased from local farms are healthier and fresher because they don’t spend days on trucks and then on supermarket shelves losing their nutrients. Preservatives are often used to keep the food stable longer and are potentially hazardous to your health. Commercially produced foods are also challenging to grow without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, antibiotics and growth hormones – all of which can be harmful to both the environment and human health. Purchasing locally grown, farm-fresh food and local seafood helps preserve your health and the environment. You’ll also
be strengthening the local economy by investing money close to home.
