idAn O’Shea was the goal-scorer for Mayo as they
received a badly needed confidence boosting win
with a seven-point success against fellow relegation
threatened Kildare at newbridge.
O’Shea hit 1-1 while Cillian O’Connor and Andy Moran kicked
seven points between them in a well- rounded team display from last year’s
beaten All-ireland finalists.
Kildare’s hapless run continued and
despite a daniel Flynn goal, and five points from the boot of Kevin Feely
they lost at home again.
Mayo were 1-9 to 1-4 ahead at half-
time, as Kildare pilfered chances in front of the posts, and O’Shea netted just before the interval.
Mayo came into this game on the back of a disappointing reversal at

KEVIN McLoughlin answered the Mayo critics once again with an awesome injury-time leveller to help his side survive relegation and doom Donegal to life in Division 2 next year.
It was an epic encounter at Ballybofey as Patrick McBrearty kicked four points and Donegal looked to be on their way to safety, but he dropped a late shot short and Mayo broke for McLoughlin to seal the draw.
Mayo were down and out with time running out but Conor Loftus, Eoin O’Donoghue and McLough- lin somehow dragged them level at Ballybofey.
McBrearty was on fire in the first half and Donegal were 0-9 to 0-6 ahead at half-time, as
target as they raced into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead after nine minutes.

Kildare finished the first half with eight wides, and they had to wait 11 minutes for Feely to pop
over their first point from a free. Kevin Flynn cut the gap further and they
should have found the net in the 13th minute but niall Kelly was thwarted by Hennelly.
Cillian and diarmuid O’Connor combined to give Mayo a three-point advantage but Feely and Paddy Brophy kept Kildare in touch. Before in the 21st minute daniel Flynn fired low into the Mayo net and the hosts were finally in front.
But Mayo hit 1-1 in injury-time and O’Shea’s goal meant they held a five-point lead at the interval.
Adam Gallagher and Andy Moran kicked points at the start of the second half and Mayo pushed for a comfortable win on the road.
