4.4 The Success Module
The Success Module is one of my best ‘gold nuggets’ and one I have used hundreds of times for over twenty-five years. It’s a great way of ‘just getting things done’. It is so amazingly powerful!
The first time I used it was when we had a strategy weekend in Taupo in September 1997 when we changed our name from Solatube to Hometech. If I recall, the module (plan) was thirty pages long.
Ok, technology has moved on with the likes of Agile and various other software programmes; however, I haven’t seen anything that can better this in getting a project completed.
I am a fan of plans, but not one of long-winded business plans. I am a detail guy and want action – now! Let’s get cranking on this!
Business plans are often written for a bank to be able to get a loan, and are dropped into the bottom drawer afterwards and never seen again... until you need to go back to the bank to get more money. A business plan needs to be revisited regularly, and it needs to have action points and time frames. This is seldom done!
I use the Success Module for projects or plans to achieve goals and set priorities, tasks and ownership.
