     THE POWER OF KINDNESS
VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

With your basket and my basket, our people will thrive
Our volunteers underpin the work we do here at Te Omanga Hospice. They play a very important role in the overall service we provide to the patients, whānau and families we care for
each year.
Our volunteer positions cover a wide range of skill sets, across multiple locations. Volunteer roles range from gardening, assisting in the kitchen preparing meals for patients, housekeeping, reception, receiving gifts donated to us for sale at our hospice shops, fundraising at our community events, and much more. We are so thankful to all our volunteers for their kindness, compassion, and the time and skills they bring to our hospice.
To celebrate National Volunteer Week this year, we shared stories of some of our volunteers. We loved hearing our volunteers describe why they chose to volunteer, and what they enjoy about volunteering for our hospice.
We continue to be amazed by the generosity and support we receive from local community groups volunteering their time to support our hospice. Earlier this year, a team from Eastern Hutt Rotary painted a fence at the Hospice and did a fantastic job.
“The working culture was great, and the staff were amazing and always ready
to help. I am very thankful for the experiences I have had in the past year which helped me grow as a person."

“I saw the Hospice was looking for volunteers and I was wanting to give back in some way, so I got in touch. I love it, it is such a special place.”
