I started off by organising fashion shows, with the support of Ballentynes Upper Hutt and a lot of help from our family, friends and local businesses. We
ran them every year from 2007-2020 and raised over $100,000. I also began selling muffins in 2009. Once or twice a month I make batches of around 15 dozen and sell them at places like the Trentham Military Camp. Over the years, I’ve made 52,202 muffins, which has raised $88,566, and counting.
The fundraising staff at Te Omanga Hospice make it easy to help out. They are approachable and uplifting, and they get in behind you. They’re happy to have you onboard, and they really appreciate the support, which makes you want to help even more. It’s something we’ve done together as a family too, so it’s nice to think about all of our friends and family who have come together to support Te Omanga Hospice through Kev.
I just feel that the Hospice is such a worthy cause, because we could all end up needing their support one day. And when you’re going through it, knowing they are there for you takes a whole lot off your mind.

Thank you so much Shirley for everything you and your family have done for the Hospice - it truly has made a difference in people’s lives!
Te Omanga Hospice continues to deliver the community support that meant so much to Shirley and Kev.
Many people are surprised to find out that just under half of our operational costs must be raised from fundraising efforts. So, we are only able to be here for our community thanks to the inspiring commitment of our amazing donors and volunteers!

Our grandad's tool shed is a special place,
Full of mystery and delight,
Where Ash and Troy would come and watch while Grandad fixed the bike.
Each day before sunset Grandad is always there,
The sound of his saw and hammer filling the evening air.
Our grandad could fix anything and make it look brand new,
He helped us fix toy cars and dolls, and our scooter too.
There are too many happy memories pleasant to recall
But Grandad in his tool-shed is the nicest one of all.
