DUNCAN GALLERIES, LINCOLN, NEBRA SKA, USA
The siting of the building was crucial not only for aesthetic but for practical reasons. We have created a wooded mound that serves as a picturesque backdrop against the prairie’s flatness within extensive landscaped grounds. It also provides an acoustic and visual shield from nearby traffic.
The building has the scale of a gallery with picturesque quality of surrounding context reflecting the prairie grid. Architecturally the building has been enriched with the juxtaposition of Indiana stone walls and stainless steel architectural features.
The building’s massing is additive with the main rooms clustered around a central glazed atri- um. A collonaded courtyard at the north end serves as a carport and service yard.
